Pat Ferguson Zen Dahlia After discovering “Zentangle ®” (creating beautiful images from repetitive patterns) I wanted to incorporate this paper and pen art form into machine quilting with stitches and fabric- thus the birth of "Zen Quilting". Using the bones of the beloved old fashioned Dahlia pattern, and my longarm machine, the final result was this double sided, whole cloth quilt. The bright fluorescent threads make up the entire design which is placed against a dark blue "moonlight" fabric on one side and a light blue "daylight" fabric on the other side.
Rx for a Long Cold Winter
Guest Curator - Lesley Riley
It has been a long, cold, wet and snowy winter for so many of us. After weeks of white, now all I see is brown when I look outside my window. I need color!
I found the cure to what ails me while curating this month's SAQA gallery. Interestingly enought, both "cure" and "curate" mean to take care of. There is no doubt that quilting takes care of us in so many ways, especially cabin fever.
A little dose of color does brighten your day. I cannot help but smile when I see the joy expressed in the colors of these quilts.
Take a look! They are sure to put a spring in your step.
