These stories compare two kinds of head trauma: Alzheimer’s Disease, which is strong in my family, and gunshot wounds to the head. I discuss the attempted assassinations of Gabrielle Giffords and Malala Yousufzai, who are slowly regaining their brain skills, comparing that with the aging process of Alzheimer’s, which slowly takes away brain function.
