When I first learned of the diaspora exhibit, many movements of people came to mind. But what lodged in my brain and wouldn’t let go was the great migration of souls who left the Great Plains during the Dust Bowl. This piece represents the relentless dust storms that forced many people to leave their beloved farmland and head west in the hopes of reconstructing a new life in the fertile valleys of California. |
