Stories of Migration
◄ ► Stranger in a Strange Land • Margaret Abramshe |
The image is of my paternal grandfather. He is prepared for travel, with his heavy wool overcoat and his best hat. My grandfather was like most Americans who fled oppression and economic hardship. He was one of millions of immigrants who traveled here to a better life. This quilt is my prayer for every stranger who is forced to leave a place of familiarity. My hope is that there will be many people and places in the world that will open their arms to these new “strangers in a strange land.” |
